UTM is an adopted project of Temple B’nai Shalom, which is its fiduciary pending its receipt of its own 501(3)c number. The organization, adopted early by the Temple, furnishes free diapers and baby products (diaper cream, baby wipes) to a number of local community centers, who distribute it to their clients. This includes the Berrien County Health Department’s Family Services division. What began as diaper drives with local faith-based organizations, the YMCA and local businesses became a grant-funded operation. It is expected to become a sustainable diaper bank in its second year of operation, 2023, the first and only one in southwest Michigan.
