Toffee Squares by Rosa Gelder.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 C butter
- 1 C brown sugar
- 2 C flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 C chopped nuts (optional)
- peanut butter (optional)
Cream butter and sugar until light. Add egg, vanilla, flour, and nuts (if using). Spread thinly on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
Note: These are especially good if you spread peanut butter over the top immediately after removing from oven. Then spread chocolate chips over the peanut butter to make frosting while the squares are still warm.
